When parents choose a collaborative process they may use a child custody specialist to help them get all the information they need to make the best decision for their children. This differs from a litigated standpoint, where a child custody evaluation might be done that gives the court the information, and directs the court how to decide what’s in the best interest of the child. When the parents know all of the information, and consider the best interest of their child in a collaborative process they make the best decisions for their children.
