A collaborative lawyer works on a team in collaboration to help your family make the best decision. Is it different than an attorney in litigation? Somewhat, but the attorney still owes the same obligations to you of attorney client privilege and to give their best advice to the client. In the collaboration process though the attorney is much more focused on helping the family to achieve their goals rather than helping one client protect their interests at all cost. In many cases the collaborative attorney can help the client see the other side of the issue, whereas the litigation attorney might be more focused on winning at all cost and forget about the other side of the issue.
