CPLS is hosting a FREE webinar on Criminal Law and Immigration: How Criminal Activity Affects Immigration. Join us on Friday, October 9th, 2020 at 12 p.m. via Zoom. From Evelyn’s blog “Other Crimes: Inadmissible” in a Crime & Immigration blog, she discusses crimes involving moral turpitude and controlled substance violations. These crimes can make someone inadmissible to the US:

  • Any person convicted of committing two or more offenses for which the combined sentences to confinement were 5 years or more
  • Any person coming to engage or who has engaged in prostitution within 10 years of the date of the application for admission
  • A person who commits or against whom there is reason to believe has committed alien smuggling
  • A person who commits or against whom there is reason to believe has committed or will commit money laundering

Ms. Evelyn J. Pabon Figueroa is a Partner in the Orlando office of CPLS, P.A. She is a member of the firm’s Immigration, Criminal, and Bankruptcy groups.

Attorney Pabon Figueroa went to law school in Puerto Rico and, while in law school, immigration and criminal law were her favorite subjects. During law school, she completed an internship at the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office. She completed her one-year practice requirement in the criminal defense clinic of the University of Puerto Rico, School of Law. The clinic requirements included meeting with potential clients to determine if the clinic could assist them and what the best course of action would be and representing these clients in court.
